Reading 66 Harrisburg 54

The Reading Red Knights continued their perfect season tonight with an impressive win over the Harrisburg Cougars tonight at the Geigle. Here are my thoughts on the game:
  1. For the first couple of minutes you could tell we were a bit flat, but once we hit a couple of jumpers and got some steals the sluggishness seemed to wear off.
  2. I thought the big difference in the game tonight was the quality play by Trenity Burdine. He not only hit a couple of three's but he was aggressive and got some key buckets on drives to the hoop and put backs. I really think this kid doesn't really know how good he can be, but to his credit every game he keeps working hard and improving.
  3. Jermain Jackson had his first sub par game offensively in about a month. But give him credit he had a tremendous dunk on an alley-oop. He also made his presence felt on the defensive end. I think a big part of his woes on offense tonight were he didn't get many touches and he was getting pushed off the block by the physical Harrisburg defenders.
  4. Macho led the team with 21 points 8 rebounds and 6 assists. The biggest thing he brought to the game tonight was the aggressiveness that wore off on all of his teammates. This was big, because in my opinion when you play Harrisburg you cant play scared and you have to take the game to them. Because when they get you down they smell blood and will go for the kill.
  5. I think tonight was probably our best effort on the defensive side of the ball. This is the area that we need to keep improving on because we know the offense is going to be there.
  6. Great job by Nelson Leon and Marcus Dawkins on making Quincy Roberts work and really tired him out as the game went on. I think we can all agree that Quincy Roberts is the best opposing player we have seen this year and probably will see in the regular season going forward. Also, Roberts definitely looked to be 100%. Because a guy with a groin pull would not be able to jam with the authority that he did tonight.
  7. Big props go out to the fans tonight for packing the house and creating a huge home court advantage. It was easily the biggest crowd in the last few years. The last time that I saw the Geigle this packed was probably the regular season showdown with Conrad Weiser in January of 2004.
  8. The only thing that really bugged me tonight was how Harrisburg kept their starters on the court at the end of the game to try and make the score look better than it was. What really did they get out of closing the lead to 12?
